Mauritius Sugar Syndicate & Cristalco: A strengthened partnership for the next chapter

The Mauritius Sugar Syndicate is proud to announce the renewal of its strategic partnership with Cristal Union and its commercial subsidiary Cristalco for an additional three years, reaffirming a shared commitment to quality, sustainability and long-term collaboration.

This important renewal was announced during the official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Mauritius, alongside the Honourable Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, and was welcomed as a strong signal of France’s ongoing support for the development and global positioning of the Mauritian sugar industry.

The agreement was signed by Xavier Astolfi, General Director of Cristal Union, and Devesh Dukhira, CEO of the Mauritius Sugar Syndicate, and will see that Cristalco — under the leadership of Pierre-Henri Dietz — continues to exclusively commercialise Mauritian white cane sugar and unrefined special sugars across key European markets, including France, Spain and Italy.

For Pierre-Henri Dietz, Mauritian sugars bring remarkable value to Cristalco’s portfolio thanks to their quality, sustainability and diversity. For Devesh Dukhira, this alignment confirms the strategic role of Mauritius on the European sugar landscape:

“This partnership has consolidated the value of Mauritian sugars on the European market. It enriches Cristalco’s portfolio while showcasing the unique characteristics of our cane sugars. Our cooperation is guided by transparency, collaboration and mutual interest.”

Beyond commercial impact, this collaboration directly supports Mauritian planters, producers and millers; strengthening livelihoods and reinforcing a more sustainable and resilient sugar industry.

At MSS, we continue to elevate Mauritius sugars as premium, responsible and origin-driven products that carry the essence of our island to the world.
